Rhodesia annexes São João Batista Island

A pearl in the Pacific will be Rhodesian.

The RIS Security Council and its spokesman Colonel B.G. Harper, the Head of State of Rhodesia, announce:

As of August 1, 2021 GMT, São João Batista Island, also known as Henderson Island, will become an inseparable and integral part of the Republic of Rhodesia.

The annexation will be peaceful, the island is currently uninhabited and RIS defence forces are on site.

São João Batista belongs geographically to the Pitcairn Islands, a British Overseas Territory with just 45 inhabitants on the main island. São João Batista (Henderson Island) has been uninhabited for centuries, a length of 7 miles, a width of 3.25 miles and an area of 30 square miles. RIS troops have been active on the island for years, mostly as environmentalists who constantly care for the uninhabited island which has not been taken care of under British rule.

This will now change. From the moment of annexation, every visitor, apart from the 45 people living on Pitcairn Island, will need a tourist visa. British diplomats are also exempt from the visa requirement. Tourist visas must be applied for at the Rhodesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Visas are valid for one day at a time from 8am to 8pm local time.

Please note that Rhodesian Overseas Territories are governed exclusively by Rhodesian law, which differs in important respects from British law.

As Rhodesia is not a member of the UN, no notification of annexation is made there.

Col. Harper
